Extension of timeline for registration of Unregistered Entities providing M2M services (TRAI)
The Networks and Technologies Division of Department of Telecommunications under Ministry of Communications has issued a notification letter on 30th September, 2024 extending the registration period for registration of the unregistered entities who are providing M2M (Machine to Machine) services and/or WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network)/WPAN (Wireless Personal Area Network) connectivity for M2M services till 15th November, 2024. In regard to the representation received from COAI (Cellular Operators Association of India), the registration period was further extended till 15th January, 2025 through the notification issued on 14th November, 2024 under Telecom Regulatory Authority of India Act, 1997. Further directions that are issued to the Authorized Telecom Licensee(s) are as below-
- Telecom Licensees to suspend the services of M2M SIMs for M2M Services/Connectivity, issued to the unregistered entities post 15th Jan 2025.
- Telecom Licensees to resume services of M2M SIMs for M2M Services/Connectivity after unregistered entities submit the registration certificate.
- Licensees to share the contact details (e-mail ID and Contact No.) of the unregistered entities with DoT (at ajay.nain@gov.in) within 7 days of issuance of this letter.
The Entities which are not registered, need to register before 15th January, 2025 to avoid suspension of the services of M2M SIMs for M2M services/connectivity. If the services got suspended, then they need to submit the registration certificate to resume the services.
